ICYMI: Leveraging Our Legacy Recap
Last week Thursday, the Black Public Relations Society of NY (BPRS-NY), in conjunction with Madame Noire, hosted the “Leveraging Our Legacy” mixer at Katra Lounge in NYC.
I’ve attended prior events hosted by BPRS-NY in the past, but this was my first mixer with them, and let me just say it did not disappoint. Often times we go to mixers hoping to leaving with at least one solid contact; I left with at least five. The mass of knowledge, know-how and inspiration in the room was incredible.
The lounge was a sea of multicultural women (and a few men) who were ready to make connections! Throughout the night I was able to mingle with women who were:
Digital media/PR specialists
Did I mention that the ladies who help run Madame Noire were there? The actual editors and story writers from the online site were their to network with their readers, and create new ideas and ventures for the site. When’s the last time your favorite website did that?!
All in all, it was a great night – drinks were flowing, business cards were going from hand-to-hand and the connections made were priceless. If you missed out, see the photos on BPRS-NY’s Facebook page.
BPRS-NY’s next event will be a general body meeting on November 12th at 6:30 p.m. at Burson-Marsteller. Folks, see to it that you are there! This organization has a wealth of knowledge and resources – it would behoove you to get involved.
