May 21, 2013 was no ordinary Tuesday night. Our ‘Passion for Fashion’ attendees were blown away by the advice and guidance from our fabulous panel, leaving them feeling inspired, informed, and excited to pursue their passion.
The night began with a case study from Genevieve Ascencio, Account Director at Factory PR. Ascencio took us behind the scenes of New York Fashion Week, sharing the do’s and don’ts when running a high profile fashion show.
“If they [celebrity] were there, and you didn’t get a photo, then it doesn’t count.” – Genevieve Ascencio on Fashion Week coverage.
Afterwards our panel, featuring Sadia Seymour, Andrea Fairweather-Bailey, Francoise Blanchette, and Genevieve Ascencio, dispelled valuable advice to aspiring fashion professionals. Each speaker touched on important challenges they’ve faced and how they were able to overcome them and come out on top; how they stay current on trends in the industry; and the importance of finding a mentor to guide you and help take your career to the next level.
“Being able to share my experience as a Fashion Stylist is also part of ‘my work’. We must inspire those who want to walk in our footsteps. I learned a great deal from my colleagues in the fashion industry and I made new friends as well. The positive energy was soul filling! The BPRS-NY events are priceless! You can’t buy this kind of networking!” –Sadia Seymour, Fashion Style Expert
